Foundation Repair Baton Rouge is a foundation repair company with 20 years of industry experience, serving Baton Rouge and the Capital Region, and every job we do starts with a foundation inspection. Before anyone quotes you a repair, you should know whether you have a problem, how big it is and what’s causing it. Our evaluation answers those three questions with measurements rather than opinions — and it’s free.
When a lender, buyer or insurer requires a sealed opinion, an independent structural engineer’s report typically costs $500–$2,000, paid to the engineer. We can arrange one.
What we do on the visit
We set up a laser level and take a floor reading in every room. Those readings become an elevation map that shows where the house is high and low and by how much — the single most useful piece of information in foundation work. We measure every crack in the slab, walls and brick, check doors and windows for binding and look at trim and ceilings for separation.
Outside, we check gutters, downspouts and grading and look for erosion or water at the slab edge. On raised homes we go under the house to check every pier, beam and sill. The whole visit takes about an hour for a typical home.
What you get
A written summary in plain English: the elevation readings, the crack map, what we think is causing any movement, and a clear recommendation — repair now, fix the drainage and monitor, or leave it alone. If repair is warranted, you also get a written plan with a price per piling or per item. The readings are yours either way.
Evaluation or engineer?
For most homeowners trying to decide whether to fix something, a measured contractor evaluation is enough. You need a licensed Professional Engineer when a lender or buyer requires a sealed report, when the house is unusual (a large two-story, an addition on a different foundation, suspected fault movement), or when you want an independent opinion before a big repair. See do you need a structural engineer for foundation repair.
Buying or selling?
Readings taken before closing give buyers a basis for negotiation and a baseline for later. Sellers who know about a foundation problem must disclose it on the Louisiana property disclosure form; documented repairs with readings make that disclosure far easier to sell with. See our guides on buying and selling.
